About Isuzu D-Max

The first and second-generation D-Max shares its platform with the Chevrolet Colorado, and the third-generation model shares its platform with the third-generation Mazda BT-50. Between 2003 and 2008, the Isuzu D-Max was sold as the Holden Rodeo in Australia. It was renamed the Holden Colorado in 2008 with the D-Max sold alongside the Colorado.

The first generation RA was launched in 2002 with standard height 4x2s (SL, SX, SLX), and 4x4s (S and LS) in single cab, double and supercab configurations. In 2006, the D-Max received a major facelift. In 2008, the Isuzu D-Max was launched in Australia with variants EX and SX variants, alongside the RC Holden Colorado which was essentially the same vehicle but renamed from Holden Rodeo after the GM-Isuzu split which meant the name was no longer available.

In 2012 Australia received a new RC D-Max developed alongside the RG Holden Colorado which it shares chassis and underpinnings with a revised front and rear clip and revised body parts. With a powerful 3L diesel engine the vehicle included some fancier electronics however was still the basic, tough truck which for which its reputation was born.

The third generation RG Isuzu D-Max was released in Australia in 2020. The new D-Max was based on the Isuzu Dynamic Drive platform. The vehicle is larger than the previous version on a lighter, stiffer larger frame. The third generation Mazda BT-50 was based on the third generation D-Max.
