About Mitsubishi Challenger

The Mitsubishi Challenger was a mid-sized SUV based on the Mitsubishi Triton platform. It was sold as the Challenger in some markets like Australia up until 2015 when the name was changed to Pajero Sport when the Mitsubishi Pajero was discontinued but inline with what it has always been sold as in European markets.

The first generation PA was sold from 1996-2008. It was marketed as a smaller, sportier capable 4wd SUV. The 3.0L V6 was the most popular option, however a range of turbo diesel 4-cylinders were also available.

The second generation KG / KH / PB Challenger released in Australia in 2009 was based on the fourth generation Triton. The PB was longer, wider and featured improved suspension and handling. It is offered as 2.5 or 3.2L common rail turbo diesel and 3.0 or 3.5 litre V6 petrol engines as before, but also a five- or seven-seat interior. The trim levels offered were standard, LS or XLS. The LS had extra interior refinements, while the XLS featured leather seats, better sound system and extra parking and reversing sensors.

In 2012 the Challenger received an update, sometimes referred to as the PC Challenger. There was also an optional enhancement pack available, which included some modern electronic gadgetry. From 2015 the Challenger was called the Pajero Sport in all markets.
