About Nissan Pulsar
The Nissan Pulsar name first appeared in 1978 as a replacement for the Datsun Cherry. As Nissan phased out the Datsun brand name, the Pulsar name started to appear internationally for its three or five door hatches of Cherry origins. A relationship with Holden Australia saw a badge engineered version of the Pulsar sold as Holden Astra and Nissan use GM engines in the Pulsar during the 80s.
During the 90s, Pulsars were continued to be assembled in Australia. By the mi-90s the Pulsar was now a compact car rather than a sub-compact and featured many performance versions.
By the 2000s the Pulsar name was used for the Nissan Bluebird Sylphy which was only available initially as a 4-door sedan which was relatively well-equipped and came in a range of engines 1.3, 1.5, 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0L.
The Pulsar was replaced in 2005 in the Australian market by the Nissan Tida hatch and subsequently revived in 2011. The C12 Pulsar hatchback released in 2013 is a rebadged Nissan Tida. The Pulsar was discontinued in Australia in 2016.
