About Subaru WRX
Released in 1992 the Subaru WRX was originally an all-wheel-drive sports version of the Subaru Impreza created for the World Rally Championship.
Through the 1992-2014 the WRX was available in Impreza chassis codes CG, CD, CE, CF, CG, CH and a wide-bodies hatch GV. The STi variant produced by Subaru's in-house tuning company was GR code.
From 2014 onward, the first generation VA WRX was marketed as a standalone model from Subaru. The WRX and WRX STI are the performance model based on the GJ/GP Impreza with higher output engines, firmer suspension, larger brakes, lowered ride height and larger intakes. The VA WRX had entirely different frontend and rear quarter body panels to the Impreza. It also features a new 2.0L FA20F engine, the STi retained the 2.5 L EJ257 from the previous model. There are quite a number of special editions of the STi model.
The second generation VB was released in Australia in 2022. The new range includes a sedan and wagon, four trim levels (base, RS, GT and GTS) and two engine/transmission combinations. The STi model however was dropped. The newly designed 2.4 L FA24F turbo H4 petrol engine features the requisite power and performance.
