About Hyundai Tucson and Hyundai IX-35
The first generation JM Tucson was launched in 2004. The Elantra platform based model is shared with the second generation Kia Sportage and was positioned as a smaller brother to the Hyundai Santa Fe. It was offered in GL, GLS and Limited which was changed to GLS, SE, and LX trim levels with the LX changed to Luxury in 2007.
The second generation 2009 SM was marketed as the Hyundai IX-35 in Australia. The styling was much more modern and power, safety and comfort were upgraded. A further facelift in 2013 was restricted to headlights in the Australian version. The IX-35 trim levels were Active, Elite and Highlander with a 2.0L petrol engine is available on Active and Elite trims, while the 2.4L petrol engine and the 2.0L diesel engine are available on Elite and Highlander trims.
The third generation TL arrived in 2015. The IX-35 offered a range of different petrol engines from 1.6L, 2L and 2.4L and 1.6L turbo diesel and 2L CRDi diesel engines. The 2019 model received a front and back redesign, and the manual and auto option were dropped in favour of a 6-speed Shiftronic.
The fourth generation NX4 IX-35 was an all new model now sharing a platform with the Hyundai Santa Fe.
