About Mitsubishi Lancer
The Mitsubishi Lancer went through a long period of being derived from the sub-compact Mitsubishi Mirage until 2000 when it was relaunched on a larger wheelbase as a compact performance sedan followed by a hatch some years later.
The Lancer gained popularity with the re-released VR-X badge variant and a sportier 2.4L engine in 2004. In 2007 the ninth generation Lancer was released (CJ) in ES, VR and VRX trim. The VRX was heavily targeted at the younger market, featuring an upgraded sound system, spoiler and side aprons.
There have been various performance variants including the Ralliart with a turbocharged engine, AWD and a six-speed manual gearbox.
The Lancer Evolution also became available in Australia featuring the 4B11 turbocharged engine, sports shift, resulting in increased power and performance. The Lancer was discontinued in most markets in 2017.
