About Toyota Prado
Introduced in 1990 as a capable medium duty 4x4 but targeted toward on-road use with improved handling and sportier engines.
Four generations of Prado have been released (J70, J90, J120, J150) and the Prado was originally available a full-size 5 door model or a three door model SWB version which was later phased out.
Models variants include the GX, GXL, VX and the luxury Kakadu. Later generations are outfitted with a range of electronic gadgets and came with various engines, including a 4L V6.
Some options have been dropped recently on the Prado in Australia, including only being available in automatic transmissions, but engines have been uprated with the introduction of the Toyota HiLux powertrain.
