About Holden Astra
Originally, the Holden Astra was a rebadged Nissan Pulsar before being replaced by the Corolla based Holden Nova when Nissan exited Australian production. From the late 90s, the TS Astra was relaunched as a rebadged Opel Astra. The car was very successful and came in CD, CDX, SXi and SRi specifications with a 1.8L or 2.2L petrol engine.
In 2004 the AH Astra followed, again based on the Opel Astra. The AH Astra was imported until 2009 when Holden replaced it with the Holden Cruze.
Commencing in 2015 the fifth generation Opel Astra was again imported. The Bl-Bk Astra was originally sold alongside the Holden Cruze however by 2017 the Astra hatch was based on the Opel model and the Astra sedan was the Cruze sold as an Astra as the sedan was dropped by Opel for the BK model.
Holden released a station wagon version of the BK Astra hatchback based on the Vauxhall Astra sport wagon in 2017. However, by 2019 Holden announced it was discontinuing the Astra, with 2020 being the last year.
